Playing with Lives

Medical experts warn that using abortion medicines without proper medical advice and supervision can lead to life-threatening complications. Taking such medicines without determining the duration of pregnancy and undergoing appropriate medical evaluation may result in severe bleeding, infections and other serious health complications.

Recently, a young woman in Yadlapadu reportedly obtained an abortion kit from a medical shop without a prescription on the advice of an RMP. She subsequently died after reportedly developing complications following the use of the medicines. The incident has raised concerns over the alleged sale of abortion kits without prescriptions and the need for stricter enforcement.

No Self-Medication

Experts advise women seeking termination of pregnancy to first determine the duration of pregnancy and undergo appropriate medical evaluation. They recommend that the procedure be carried out only under the supervision of a qualified doctor.

They warn that purchasing and using such medicines without medical supervision or taking abortion kits on the advice of unqualified persons can pose serious risks to health and life.
